Senators Honor Military Families at the 21st Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Game The Ottawa Senators and The Senators Community Foundation came together to salute our military members and their families. This year’s annual Ottawa Senators Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Appreciation Night took place on January 30, 2025, where fans were given the opportunity to salute military members and their families before and during the game. From the national anthem performed by Sergeant David Grenon of the RCAF band, to our newest members of the Canadian Armed Forces being sworn in by Chief of the Defence Staff, General Jennie Carignan, the arena was vibrating with patriotism for our Canadian military. Fans were able to show their support by buying 50/50 tickets, purchasing a mystery puck, purchasing Canadian Armed Forces night jerseys, hats or shirts and rounding up at the cash. A portion of the funds from all of these activities went to championing the CAF community through Support Our Troops. "At the Senators Community Foundation, we are deeply committed to supporting children and families in our community," said Jacqueline Belsito, President of the Senators Community Foundation. "Military families make immense sacrifices, and it’s an honour to stand alongside Support Our Troops to help ensure they have access to essential health care, counselling, and support services. By working together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who serve our country and their loved ones." In addition to fundraising activities taking place during the game, Support Our Troops was thrilled to receive yet another generous donation from our friends, The Senators Community Foundation. Their donation of $25,000 will directly help fund programming for children and youth of military families in the National Capital Region through the Summer Camp Program, Special Needs Program, and Tutoring Program. This always successful event allowed military families to experience the joy of hockey and feel the ongoing and indelible support from the team, the fans and the community.
